Point Blank Poets

They began a new way of creating performance poetry - working collaboratively to respond creatively to social issues in association with charities they feel are important to the times we live in. They have worked with Love Music Hate Racism, PEN, Traid, Object and many others.

Since then the highly-acclaimed and ground-breaking collective have performed and produced new work for shows at The Southbank Centre, Broadway Theatre and the Free Word Centre. Individually, their achievements are off the hook, from bagging a Spirit of London Award (Dean Atta) or a Westminster Prize for new Playwrights Award (Sabrina Mahfouz) to winning the title of UK Slam Champion of the Year (Cat Brogan & Deanna Rodger) and performing at Glastonbury (Hollie McNish & Sabrina Mahfouz).

POINT BLANK POETS: 2010

POINT BLANK POETS: We are a collective of the most exciting emerging spoken word stars in the country. We originated as Rhymes Won't Wait in Nov 2009 when we created and performed our first critically-acclaimed show. Since then we have been invited to collaborate on high-profile events for Southbank Centre, PEN, The Red Room, The Broadway Barking and The Free Word Centre. As Point Blank Poets we focus on creatively responding to important contemporary social issues with their unique, fresh and lively live literature. We feel a passion for the power of words, in particular poetry, to add a dimension of empathy which is not always so readily available via other mediums. Each member has a successful individual poetry career and by working together hope to use their talents to really make a difference.
