Rabindranath X Bhose

Rabindranath X Bhose is a Glasgow-based artist with a practice rooted in movement, bringing together text, drawing, and sculpture. His research circles around queer masculinity, sacred transness and crip magic, focusing on a sense of ‘crossing over’. His practice searches for the divinity found in returning to the earth and listening to ancient wisdom in the muddy path to collective liberation.

In 2023, he was commissioned for his first solo show, DANCE IN THE SACRED DOMAIN, at Collective, Edinburgh. As part of this, he performed Body of the Bog, a writhing dance of a bog body come to life, moving disruptively against the dominant backdrop of old Edinburgh architecture. He also undertook residencies at Tramway, Glasgow and the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, researching the idea of the ‘gender fugitive’: a figure who evades restrictive categories through movement to reveal a body still and always transforming.

He is a board member of Market Gallery, Glasgow, and is a Research Lead for the British Art Network 2023-2024 group Artist-Run Initiatives in Britain. From 2018-2020, he was a member of School of the Damned, a nomadic, peer-organised art school.
